Did you care for a senior living at home (or an independent living retirement home) during the COVID-19 pandemic in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario or Manitoba? Are you part of an official language minority (Francophone in New Brunswick, Ontario or Manitoba, or Anglophone in Quebec)?
If so, we would like to invite you to participate in our study. Our research team is interested in better understanding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on caregivers who support seniors at home (or independent living residence).
Your participation would involve sharing your caregiving experience before, during, and after the pandemic (now) through an interview, which may be conducted by telephone or video conference, and will last approximately 60 minutes. During the interview, you will be asked about your role as a caregiver and the type of caregiving tasks you perform, your well-being or distress, and your experience during the pandemic. If your loved one stays with you and his or her health permits, he or she can accompany you to the interview and share his or her perspective on the issues.
Measures will be taken to protect your identity. The content of the interviews will only be used by members of the research team for analysis. Your anonymity will be ensured through the use of pseudonyms and the removal of all identifiers. A consent form containing all the details will be given to you before the interview.
